Wonderful Week of Colorful Hikes!
The change of seasons this time of year offers us many tactile reminders of what is to come: the chilly breeze, the once wildflower-studded forest floor now covered with evergreen needles and cones, once supple, green blades of grass now turned to pale-yellow straw. As autumn gently places her chilly fingertips upon us, the visual reminders are ever-present, as well: new colors popping up all around us, the trailside scats of bears who have gorged themselves on apples and berries, the scurrying of squirrels and chipmunks who are busy gathering nuts for winter, the coupling of deer. Our two hikes this week with Gracy and Rocco took place amongst all of this beauty and change, as we traveled the Doudy Draw, Spring Brook North, South Mesa, Homestead and Shadow Canyon Trails. As always, the company was excellent, the scenery stunning and the exercise much appreciated by all!
